Configuring the VNMR User Accounts

The Bayesian Analysis software does not really need to be configured; rather VNMR must be told where to find the software. This is done by configuring the `path' and the `LD_LIBRARY_PATH' environment variables. There are three ways you can configure these variables:

  1. First, you can simply issue a "makeuser account" where "account" is the account to be reconfigured.
  2. Second, if you do not wish to reconfigure the entire VNMR account you can copy the file "/vnmr/user_templates/.login" to the users home directory. This version of the ".login" file is just the standard .login that comes with VNMR with the path and LD_LIBRARY_PATH variables configured to allow you to run the Bayesian Analysis software.
  3. Finally, you can edit your ".login" file and add "/vnmr/bayes/bin" and "/usr/local/bin" to the path variable and add "/vnmr/bayes/lib" and "/usr/local/lib" to the "LD_LIBRARY_PATH" variable.

At this point you are done configuring the users account. However, to get these changes to take effect you will probably have to logoff the system and then log back in. In addition, you must activate the "setup/App_Mode/Bayes" buttons from the main VNMR menu. This last step is necessary to tell VNMR where to look for the Bayesian Analysis macros and menus.
